Version 4 of the TC70 floppy drivers provide several new features.

- Full support. Formatting included, is now provided for all Microware disk formats. (see dmode info below)

- The TC70 is now able to read any format disk the hardware is capable of without the need to change the descriptor or even know what the disk format is. The TC70, when presented with a different disk format will adjust itself so it can read and/or write to the disk.

- High density support is much improved. On 3.5" disks the TC70
supports up to 36 sectors per track for a total capacity of 5760 sectors. On 5.25 inch disks the TC70 supports up to 3O sectors per track for a total capacity of 4BOO sectors. In either case you can adjust the sectors per track downward and the TC70 will automatically adjust the inner-sector gap. See dmode info below.

- Dmode info':

- Dmode now supports all the unusual Microware disk format terminology. For example to set the descriptor for any of them, all that is necessary is to:

TC70: dmode /dO xxxx

where xxxx is one of the following:

5403, S407, 58O3, 5807, 58v2, 58w7, 3803, 3807, and 38w7

High density disk setting is now done by the following.

[no]hd5	high density 5"	(floppy)
[no]hd3	high density 3"	(Floppy)
[no]ed3	extra density 3" (floppy)

To set the TC70 so you can format a Hi Density 3.5" disk type:

TC70: dmode /dO hd3

If you wanted to do the same but reduce the numbers of sectors per track to 54 so that other 0SK computers can read them) type,

TC70: dmode /dO hd3 sectrk=34 sectrtk0=34 /d0

(The following "/dO' will display the results.)

None of this is required to read and/or write these disk formats asthe TC70 will automatically adjust itself. However to format any of these you need to change the descriptor with dmode.

Note: 'ed3' is for "extra' density 3.5" disks of 2.88 megabytes. The TC70 requires a separate K-Busfloppy cortroller for the "extra' density disks. (The QT PC/30 supports this format.)

Tape support:

WE now have streaming tape support finished for standard SCSI tapes. We are polishing the DAT tape software that will support those huge Gigabyte PlusSCSI tapes. now available on the market. More information is or will be available in the near Future. Contact FHL for details.
This update is FREE to all TC70 users. Contact FHL for more information.
